When addressing envelopes or writing notes with an old-fashioned ink pen, use a blotter to rest the pen and absorb drips. This felt version is simple to make. Use pinking shears to cut felt (dark colors hide ink best) into four graduated circles, ranging from 1 3/4 inches to 3 3/4 inches in diameter; stack with the smallest on top, and sew them together with a button in the center.

This sounded like a wonderful idea! However, after spending an afternoon making one - I found that the fibers from the felt came off onto the pen nibs (I tried several nibs, thinking that was the problem). After constantly removing the fibers by hand I resorted to tweezers to remove fibers from the nib. The fibers had left ink trails, so I had to scrap this idea and purchase more paper and start all over. Very disappointing project!
