Save-the-Date Postcards

These charming save-the-dates prove good news can come in small packages, too. Purchase mini cards and envelopes (Motel Deluxe from Paper Presentation, 800-727-3701, made these 2-by-3-inch sets). Run envelopes through a machine that adds adhesive backing (we used one from Xyron), and affix to postcards (either store-bought or cut from card stock). Handwrite or stamp your wedding information on the cards; tuck them in the envelopes, and seal. Add standard first-class postage, and you're set to announce you've set the date.

Yes! You can mail these. You will have to pay the hand carried price though. They will not put them through the automatic mailer. I had 5x7 sized postcards with a wax seal on the envelope and paid 65 cents in postage.

Can you actually mail this as a postcard? Last I checked with the USPS, a 'postcard' has to be one flat, rectangular piece. I would love to know if someone has actually mailed these successfully.

I haven't made these but I think that permanent double sided adhesive would work great for this project! That is what I use to adhere my self printed address tags on the outside of packages and it is a very secure bond! You can get it at Michael's art store in 8.5 x 11 sheets and then cut them to the appropriate size..... that way there is no drying time either :)

Anyone who has created these can you tell me what you used as an adhesive and did they arrive intact? Would rubber cement work to adhere them? Also, what did they tell you at the post office, do they have to hand stamp them? Or how did they get through, please advise. Thanks for the help.

Did you google "Motel Deluxe from Paper Presentation"? If you can't find them online, try your local Michael's, AC Moore or Joann's.

Hi, can you tell me how to find "Motel Deluxe"? I tried googling them, but actual motels come up, not printers. Thanks!

Hi, Great idea. I am getting married on June 9, 2009 and I used a web site to design my own postcards called www.savethedatemagic.com and they turned out great, we uploaded our photo and sent them to all our friends, thanks, Darlene and Ted

I LOVE this idea! ! ! I'm the owner of SavetheDateStickers . . . Anyway, I sell little savethedatestickers cards with a cute little envelope. This would be a perfect idea to share with my brides. I'm going to post a link on my site to this page. : )
    THANKS! Deb : )
