Mother-of-the-Bride Makeover

The Martha Stewart Show, May 2011

The wedding day is a special occasion where both mother and daughter want to look and feel their very best, and mother of the bride Bert Dempsey is no exception. When it came time to prepare for her daughter Meshay's North Carolina nuptials, Bert turned to celebrity hairstylist Dean Banowetz.

After considering the upcoming wedding's location and climate, Dean whisked Bert backstage for a mother-of-the-bride makeover, completed within a one-hour taping of "The Martha Stewart Show."

Here, Dean shares his top three hair tips that all mothers should consider when choosing a hairstyle for their daughter's big day.

Dean's Tips for the Mother of the Bride
1. Factor in the style of your dress, paying particular attention to whether your shoulders are bare or covered.

2. Consider the climate when selecting products, and opt for styling guards that can handle the humidity (or lack thereof) in your location.

3. Above all, make sure you feel comfortable.
