Polka-Dot Cuff

Martha Stewart Weddings, Winter 2002

How do I love thee? Let me count the dots. In this 1950s-style bouquet, chocolate cosmos pop out of a dome of blushing roses framed with polka dots and tied with a lavender ribbon.

Tools and Materials
lavender linen
cardboard
hot-glue gun
1 3/4 -inch-wide polka-dot ribbon
2 5/8-inch-wide lavender French wire ribbon

Polka-Dot Cuff How-To
Hot-glue a 9-inch circle of lavender linen to one side of a 9-inch cardboard circle. Cut a wedge out of cuff that measures 2 inches at the outer edge and 4 1/2 inches on the long sides.

To make the opening for the bouquet, cut an X in center of cardboard, making each of its four legs 1 1/4 inches long. Hot-glue sides of wedge opening together, stopping 1 1/4 inches from center.

For polka-dot edge, cut six 6 1/2-inch pieces of polka-dot ribbon. Fold over one end of first ribbon at center; glue. Fold over other end; glue. Repeat with other ribbons. Glue ribbon triangles to bare side of cardboard around rim, seam side up, overlapping slightly.

Slide bouquet into cuff; tie stems with lavender ribbon.
