Punched-Out Flowers How-To

Martha Stewart Weddings, Fall 2009

To make the flowers shown in "Pleased as Punch" in the Fall 2009 issue of Weddings, simply punch shapes using craft punches and various types of paper (we used everything from card stock to wallpaper to wrapping paper to an old book).

Once you've punched out your shapes, use a 1/8-inch hole punch to punch the center of each shape. Stack the punch-outs and insert a paper brad through the center to secure. Fluff the paper petals with your fingers to shape.

You can use this basic technique in different ways, depending on what you use for a stem. To put them on cupcake flags, leave the centers unpunched. Stack flowers, placing adhesive dots between, and fluff petals. Glue one flower to each side of the ball on this pick.
