Dresses That Sparkle: Embroidered Tulle

Martha Stewart Weddings, Winter 2001

Here, a one-of-a-kind tulle dress is gracefully embroidered with flowers and crystals. Asymmetrical draping at the right shoulder adds interest to the slender net sheath. As the gown floats gently to the floor, the decoration grows more concentrated. A slight sweep train completes the shapely silhouette.

Below, an illusion pleating at the hem gives a V-neck satin dress an airy quality. A double-strap satin shoe peeks out from beneath the frothy layers of tulle. The edges of the sleeves and hem are embellished with beaded embroidery and oblong pearl drops. The chapel train is embroidered as well.
