Wearing Gloves: Measuring Your Hand

Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 2001

To determine your glove size, make a fist with your dominant hand, then wrap a tape measure across your palm and around your knuckles. Do not include your thumb. Because glove size is predicated on a French ruler that is 13 inches long, your size will be slightly smaller than the one you get using our 12-inch standard. According to Jay Ruckel, you should subtract 1/2 inch from your measurement to get your correct size. Thus, if your hand measures 6 1/2 inches around, your size is 6; if 7 inches, your size 6 1/2, and so on.
