Favor Centerpieces: Tuscan Takeaway

Martha Stewart Weddings, Spring 2002

Ripe fruits symbolize abundance and fertility -- and make delicious favors. Tomatoes look beautiful and enticing in this rustic Italian display.

To create it, gather vine-ripened tomatoes in red, orange, and yellow. Wrap them in red vegetable netting, twist closed, then place in berry baskets, tucking the excess netting under the tomatoes.

We arranged the baskets down the center of the table, alternating colors and sizes. A wooden garden pick placed in each basket is stamped "Enjoy!" The breadsticks add height, and bowls of olives continue the Italian theme.

I would really love to do these but can't seem to find the baskets online anywhere. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find them?

These are really cute but I really can't see many people actually taking these home. Maybe if you included a favorite recipe using tomatoes, perhaps a family marinara, bruschetta, or gazpacho it might entice people and make it more personal.
