Fabric Popcorn Cone How-To

Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 2011

We created the decorative paper for our popcorn cones by making a color photocopy of a fabric onto sturdy white paper (we used Paper Presentation's Classic Crest paper; paperpresentation.com). You can also use patterned scrapbooking paper; the 8 1/2-by-11-inch size will fit into your home printer so you can print the template onto the back. The more common 12-by-12-inch size will yield 2 cones per sheet; print the cone template onto a piece of paper, and trace it lightly onto the back of the paper.

Tools and Supplies

  • Ink-jet or laser printer
  • 8 1/2-by-11-inch decorative paper (1 cone per sheet)
  • Scissors
  • Double-stick tape

Basic How-To

1. Download our PDF file, and open it using Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you are using a Mac, use Reader instead of Apple's Preview application). Most browsers already include this program, but if you have trouble downloading the file or would like to upgrade Acrobat Reader, you can obtain the latest version of the software for free from Adobe's website. Print it onto the back of your decorative paper.

2. Cut out the cones.

3. Roll each cone into shape, with one edge overlapping; secure with double-stick tape.
